Dr. Marie-Carin von Gumppenberg

Dr. Marie-Carin von Gumppenberg runs the Policy Studies since 2001. Since 2000 holds a Ph.D. in Political Sciences of the Munich Ludwig-Maximilians-University. In 2014 she certified as Compliance Officer at the Augsburg University.

Work experience

In 2000-2001 and 2003-2012 Dr. Marie-Carin von Gumppenberg worked for OSCE Field Offices in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and North Macedonia.

During this time she has gained profound expertise in democratisation and governance issues. She extensively cooperated and coordinated with governmental, non-governmental and international stakeholders.

Dr. Marie-Carin von Gumppenberg is fluent in Russian and English. She has good French skills and sufficient Italian, Uzbek, Georgian and Macedonian language skills.

In 2001 Dr. Marie-Carin von Gumppenberg launched the Policy Studies, an independent, non-partisan consulting providing a wide range of tailor-made services on democracy and governance issues.

In this capacity, she has advised national governments, national and international non-government organisations, donors and international development agencies, and the private sector.

Her consulting services include

  • design of participatory monitoring and evaluation systems
  • conduct of complex multi-stakeholder, multi-country evaluations (remotely, semi-remotely, on the spot)
  • design and review/audit of anticorruption systems
  • training for civil society organisation on anticorruption and safeguarding (online and in person)
  • training of election commissions and political parties on hate speech
